Time to head to the Airport. Our flight leaves around 6 in the morning so we had an early morning to get to the airport on time. We arrived at the airport around 4 in the morning.
Even at 4 in the morning there is a security line. Kayla, Michael and Josh since we moved to Murfreesboro do not fly very often.
At the airport ready to go. Our flight was running a bit late (left around 6:45).
We flew American Airlines on one of their smaller planes. The plane was a 1 seat to the left and 2 on the right. We reserved the seats so that each of the kids had their own seat and Heather and I took the seats on the right. The flight was really bumpy. In New York City the wind was really strong. The plane was bumped all over the place. Our pilot had to try a couple times to make a landing because the wind was so strong. I was glad to be on the ground after that landing.
To get a full fill for New York City we had a stretch limo lined up to take us to our apartment. We had never ridden in a stretch limo.
What a great ride in New York City! We rode straight into the city to our apartment.
Traffic always is interesting in New York City. (signs that you typically don't see in the south) - No honking in the traffic near the bridge in to Manhattan.
The stretch limo was able to drop us off at the apartment we had reserved. We went through VBRO and selected an apartment in Greenwich Village (in a residential area). We arrived at our apartment around 11:30 in the morning. Once we put our luggage into the apartment and got things set we head out. It was really windy and cold. The temperature was around 35 but with the wind it felt really chilly. We rode the subway down to the World Trade Center area. We spent some time at the World Trade Center Memorial. We didn't take any pictures at the site out of respect for those that lost their lives at this spot. This site always make the devastating day of 9-11 real. We didn't spend much time there so we ventured over the mall near the World Trade Center.

One of our favorite places to hang out was in the Apple store looking over the electronics they have (plus it was warm there).
After spending time at the Apple Store we walked over to Wall Street and went to the site that George Washington took the oath to be President of the United States. We read through some historical information in relation to the site
We walked down to Battery park to see the Statue of Liberty. We didn't have the time to take the boat out to the Statue of Liberty so we walked up and located a pier on the river with a great view of the lady. It was really windy on the pier. This picture is actually a video that didn't pan out. With the temperature and the wind it was chilly. We had reservations at an Italian restaurant with views of the Statue of Liberty.
Our view of the Statue of Liberty at lunch. Great place to eat. We took our time because it was chilly and windy outside.
After a late lunch we headed back to the apartment to get ready to head to Times Square for the evening. The video above is of the apartment. Once we took a quick rest and settled in a bit we took the subway to Times Square. The subway was right below our apartment so it was easy to the get the station.
Times Square in the evening!
Times Square has a M&M store. A store full of chocolate.
Look who is at the Disney Store on Times Square! A Storm Trooper.
Some of us aren't as brave as others.
After spending time at Times Square we took the subway back to the apartment. What a day! We started by getting up early to catch the plane and finished it in Times Square.
The Apartment was just what we were looking for. It had plenty of space for us to sleep and hang out and was much cheaper than a hotel in the city. We enjoyed not being in a small hotel room but we got to enjoy the city through an apartment.
The next morning (Wednesday morning) we got up early and headed over to Rockefeller Center to see the tree and the Today Show. The Today Show has a crowd outside. It was important for us to be in the middle of the crowd we just wanted to walk by and see the show in progress.
Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie are sitting near the window. See the prompter that they are reading for the news. Always, exciting to see live TV in progress.
There is the whole crew on the set filming (broadcast throughout the country).
We passed by the Today Show on our way to the lobby of the Rockefeller Center lobby. We had reservations in the morning to go up on top Rockefeller Center to see the city. Because we had reservations and it was around 9:00 we didn't have to wait in line too much to get up on top.
On top Rockefeller Center! The city!
